Ain’t No Other Choice But To be Loving Los Angeles

There is no other city in the world quite like Los Angeles.  I don’t know if it is that fact that the movie industry reigns supreme here or that fact that sometimes it seems that being passive aggressive is the national pastime here.  Don’t even think of honking unless it is a serious accident or you are on the brink of death.  I’m an East Coast type and when I first moved here I could not believe how slow people drove.  I would honk all angry and people would look at me like I was crazy.  Growing up in San Juan, Puerto Rico for most of my life it had become a second hand reaction and I thought little of it.  But moving out here things are  a bit more civil, I guess.

This is the place where they place red, yellow and green lights in order to merge onto one of LA’s many ugly ass and narrow as hell freeways, like it was the Indy 500 or something like that.  Never in my life had I had to merge onto a freeway by way of a traffic stop light.  One more reason why we are loving Los Angeles.

Everything is upside down.  Bizarro world is for real.  Yet, most have grown to love this unique gem.  Even though transplants from the East Coast talk a lot of trash about the superiority of NYC, they are usually the first ones to quietly retire out here.  It’s a huge city and such a juxtaposition of so many contradictions and cultures.  Didn’t you know that Long Beach is the second most diverse city in ll of the United States?  Go figure.  That is one more reason to be loving Los Angeles.  Here are a few pictures that I took and think capture some of the big city’s wildly unique heartbeat.
